It was a pretty autumn day to take a road trip from Bristol, VT to Lake Placid in the Adirondack area of New York. The fall colors are peaking, we had an awesome lunch at "The Tail of the Pup" the only bar-b-que place in the area - it was good!. We wandered around then headed home.
Then at dusk a deer leapt from the woods adjacent to the highway, right in front of us and we hit it squarely - head on. :- ( for all involved, the deer appeared to have died instantly. Setsuko, Linda, and I were unharmed. The car handled beautifully - I love my Jetta even more now!
So we took our lemons and made lemonade! There was a nice restaurant tavern called Baxter's Mountain Tavern where it was warm and hospitable. The staff and patrons were concerned that we were OK and had what we needed while we waited for Linda's dad came to fetch us. Just another "wrinkle in the road."
