a la Montreal ~ Sunday & Monday September 26 & 27

Setsuko, Linda and I made a quick trip up to Montreal, just over 2 hours from Bristol - pretty easy drive. Montreal is very much a food lovers city.

We took many tips from NY Times 36 -Hours in Montreal, since that was pretty much our time frame.

We went to Le Cartet, a cafe with retail space in Old Montreal ~ Beautiful spot with the largest variety of interesting chocolate bars I've ever seen.

This was my breakfast, soft scrambled eggs with creamy goats cheese on rustic bread - it was perfect.

Near the Jewish quarter was "Les Touilleurs" (the web site is worth a visit)

This was a stunning kitchenwares shop near the Jewish quarter. Could have spent all day in there!

Montreal have a vibrant network of well supported farmer's markets, Jean-Talon is referred to as the largest in North America. It was large and impressive.

Between the very long line of folks who looked like they knew their Dim Sum and Setsuko's finger licking, I was comfortable that this place was a hit!

Setsuko and her daughter Naomi have this thing for "Dragon's Beard" candy - it is pretty wild stuff.
