10-28-10: The Monasteries at Metorea

The Metorea, first a geological wonder created nearly 60 million years ago as the result of tectonic movements pushing the seabed upwards; hence the name which means 'towards heaven." Second a religious site dating back to 11th century when hermit monks first began inhabiting its caves. More info at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteora
